With the help of my Spanish stamp sets, Flores Suaves and Gracias, I created this card for Color Challenge #11 on the Stampin’ Addicts site and Jen del Muro’s Sketch for You to Try (5/2/09). These colors seemed perfect to brighten up this rainy day in Maryland.
The Bashful Blue panels were embossed with a SU! texturz plate. I stamped the flower with Riding Hood Red ink on Whisper White card stock and stippled So Saffron ink around the image. The sentiment was stamped with Pacific Point and punched out, then adhered with dimensionals after the edge was sponged with Tangerine Tango ink. A little bit of taffeta ribbon tied to a mini clip finishes off the card.

I’ve finished making my Mother’s Day cards, so I thought I’d get an early start on Father’s Day cards. When I saw the Weekend Sketch challenge (#79) on Jenn’s blog a few days ago, this stamp from the All Holidays set immediately came to mind. I wasn’t quite sure what kind of embellishment to use on this masculine card, and I ended up creating a ribbon “flower” with a big manly brad. The ‘Dad’ rub-on was created with letters from the ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ sentiment in the Chit Chat package (no kidding!).
The technique I used on the Kiwi Kiss panel was today’s challenge on SCS: Embossed Wax Paper Resist. My wax paper was impressed with the Harlequin texturz plate.

This week’s Featured Stamper challenge on SCS introduced me to a new gallery, sparkplug17‘s. As soon as I saw the fun layout on her Year of the Ox card, I knew I had found “my” card. Instead of making a New Year’s card, I turned my version into a card for a new baby girl.
Sparkle used a lot of glitter on her card (how appropriate!), but I used the shiny white pin stripe paper from the Taste of Textiles package instead. The patterned paper is from the Bella Birds DSP package, and the baby buggy image from the Puns from the Past set. To get the piercing along the edge of the circle panel looking even, I again used Beate’s wonderful tip on paper piercing curves.

A good friend gave me a package of Hooray Designer Hardware and it’s just been sitting on the shelf all this time. I decided to use the big owl eyelet when I saw Kristina Werner’s latest color inspiration challenge (#50!), which included yellow and turquoise. I had a hard time incorporating all of the colors on my card though, especially the brown.
I cut a circle out of Whisper White card stock and stamped the groovy flower from the Wow Flowers set with Tempting Turquoise and Chocolate Chip ink. Then I punched two circles out of Real Red and Yoyo Yellow card stock, glued them together and set the eyelet with the Crop-A-Dile. Real Red grosgrain ribbon was pulled through a white jumbo grommet and tied into a knot.

I finally found a fun use for the rickrack ribbon in the Pigtails package. What do you think?
The sketch I used is today’s challenge on SCS (SC226), but I placed my circle on the right hand side because the birdie is “talking” to the left and I needed room to add my hand-made text balloon. This is a birthday card for a little boy, and I pulled out some retired patterned paper that might appeal to him. The bird was paper pieced: I stamped one image on the blue DSP and another one on Pumpkin Pie card stock (which I cut out and adhered to the blue circle).
