I have to admit I felt really uncomfortable trying to CASE any of JulieHRR’s creations for this week’s Featured Stamper challenge. After all, HRR stands for Her Royal Rubberness and Julie’s cards are just amazing! She does clean and simple like no-one else.

I chose a birthday card she made for a 12-year old neighbor and turned mine into a Valentine for my husband. He unsubscribed from my blog a while ago, so I can still surprise him with this card on February 14. A computer image would have fit him very well also, but I just love this typewriter from the Puns from the Past set, and the pun that comes with it.

I stamped the image twice with Basic Gray ink. The Whisper White version was punched out with the Curly Label punch and the Going Gray typewriter was cut out by hand. I glued the white card stock to Going Gray and traced around the label, then cut the mat. The two Going Gray hearts were punched out with the new Heart to Heart punch and adhered with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!

It was a quick and easy card to make. I stamped the sentiment first with Old Olive ink on Whisper White card stock and cut out the word Thanks. Then I stamped it with Rose Red ink on Pink Pirouette card stock and punched it out. “Thanks” was adhered with dimensionals. The bow and the ribbon underneath are two separate pieces. I stuck the bow on top of the ribbon with a mini glue dot.

This card was created using both her color combination and sketch. Thanks for the great challenges, LeeAnn!

The Blush Blossom card was stamped with the flowers from the retiring Classic Backgrounds set. The butterflies were stamped with Cameo Coral ink on Whisper White card stock and cut out, then adhered to the card with dimensionals.

I only used the beginning and the end of the Thank You So Very Much sentiment and stamped the words on two 1″ Whisper White squares. These were matted with Baja Breeze card stock and mounted on Cameo Coral scallop squares. The little flowers around the words are actually one of the butterfly images in the Flight of the Butterfly set.

When Stampin’ Up! came out with the Big Shot this past summer, I finally got my first die-cutting machine. Now I know what I’ve been missing all these years! I pre-ordered the Sweetest Stem embosslit, which will be in the Spring-Summer 2009 catalog, but I hadn’t used it yet. When I was putting this card together, it just was the right embellishment to fill in the space on the Top Note.

The colors I used are from Kristina Werner’s 36th Color Inspiration challenge. I started by stamping the Baroque background with Old Olive ink on the Old Olive card. I ran the Top Note die through the Big Shot twice, once with Rose Red card stock, and once with Pretty in Pink Prints Designer Series Paper. I trimmed the Pretty in Pink Top Note by cutting on the perforated stitches and adhered it to the Rose Red one.

The sentiment from the new A Little Somethin’ hostess set was stamped with VersaMark on Old Olive card stock and white embossed, then punched out. A Pretties flower and some Whisper White taffeta ribbon finish off the card.

Thanks for stopping by, and Happy New Year!

I remembered I had yet to ink up the tic-tac-toe image in the A Happy Heart set when I saw Barbara’s Cupcake Hugs and Kisses, Tic Tac Toe Style card in her SCS gallery. According to the Featured Stamper rules, you are to change at least two things on the original card, and I changed plenty! My little 3″ x 3″ Valentine has different colors and images, and has no cupcakes at all.

You may be wondering how I managed to pull two pieces of the Alpine ribbon through the ribbon slide. Well, I didn’t. I first tied a little piece of linen thread to the slide, then pulled the front ribbon through, hiding the linen thread. I adhered the ribbon to the card with Sticky Strip (both front and inside) and I tied the inside/back ribbon to the ribbon slide with the linen thread.

I made this card earlier this month for a ribbon demo challenge on SCS, Tie One On. Having seen Kristina Werner’s Ribbon Weaving video tutorial, I thought I’d give that a try with Stampin’ Up!’s wonderful double-sided satin ribbon.

I laid six 4″ ribbons side by side on my grid paper to determine the size of the square piece of card stock that I would be adhering the ribbons to. Then I pretty much followed the instructions in Kristina’s tutorial. I adhered my ribbon panel to a Rose Red square with Sticky Strip.

With the help of the Punches Plus template, I pierced a large circle on Very Vanilla card stock. Then I stamped the image from the Sweet Stems set (available January 19, 2009) with black StazOn ink inside the pierced circle and punched it out with the 1-3/4″ circle punch. The coloring was done with Classic inks and a blender pen.

Thanks for stopping by, and Merry Christmas!

Game Night is another sneak preview set from the Spring-Summer 2009 Idea Book & Catalog. My relatives love to play games (especially cards and Yahtzee), and I just had to have this set to make cards for them. I started with an old sketch challenge from SCS (#119) and cut the two large panels out of the new Jackpot Designer Series Paper.

I inked up the In the Cards wheel with my black StazOn pad and rolled it onto Whisper White card stock. The little red hearts were punched out with the new Heart to Heart punch (available in the Valentine Love You Much Bundle on December 23). Even though they’re not a perfect match, it is pretty close. The So Saffron diamond was just cut out by hand. All were adhered with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!

One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is that you’re able to pre-order a couple of hostess sets before the arrival of the new catalog. I knew I had to have the (level 2) A Little Somethin’ set when I saw its great images, just waiting to be punched out!

I used the color combination and sketch from the September ‘08 WICKED demo challenge on SCS for my card. I stamped Howdy with Not Quite Navy ink on Whisper White card stock and punched it out with the 1-1/4″ circle punch. I tried using a large star behind the circle, but it looked pitiful. Then a light bulb went off and I punched out another star, laid it upside down on top of the first one, and mounted the Howdy circle on top. This looked perfect!

The Sahara Sand strip near the bottom was stamped with the paisley image from the Wanted set. I also added a few white dots to fill in the empty spaces. The sentiment is a rub-on from the Chit Chat package.

Thanks for stopping by!
