This intriguing technique was featured in the April/May 2009 Technique Junkie Newsletter. I stamped the train image with VersaMark ink on a scrap of newspaper and embossed it with clear powder. Next I brayered Basic Black ink over the paper and wiped the embossed areas clean with a soft paper towel. I tore all four edges and matted the image with Whisper White card stock (also with torn edges, which were sponged with Going Gray ink).
The sketch I used is one of Brenda Quintana’s WICKED challenges on the demo side of SCS this month (May 2009). I used Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper for the two corner pieces, and one strip of Going Gray card stock. The filigree designer brad was paired with a black vintage brad and placed in the top left corner of the image panel.

Today I made my very first ATC (Artist Trading Card). These little 3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ cards are very popular, but I had never made one until now. It’s all because I wanted to CASE this card in today’s Featured Stamper’s gallery. Debbie’s owl image is larger than the one I have, so I had to improvise. I’m really happy with how my card ultimately turned out, too!

The owl was stamped with Basic Gray ink on Whisper White card stock and punched out with the 1-3/8″ square punch, then adhered to Baja Breeze card stock. I added some piercing instead of real stitching. The two little DSP squares measure 1″ x 1″ and were also matted with Baja Breeze card stock.
Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrate motherhood today!

I really wanted to make a card for Dawn McVey’s color challenge last week (loved those colors!), but I ran out of time. This week, she picked dark grey, medium pink, bright pink and white. The bright pink is what threw me off; like I mentioned before, I am not a Bold Brights girl at all.
The sketch I used is this week’s SFYTT (Sketch for You to Try) by Jen del Muro (5/9/09). The card base is textured Basic Gray card stock. The image from the A Little Somethin’ hostess set was stamped twice: once with Basic Gray ink (and punched out), and a second time with Pink Passion ink (only the word THANKS was cut out). The 1-3/4″ circle was matted with a die-cut scalloped circle. I stamped the two flourishes in the top corners after the card was already assembled because it seemed to need something up there.

I love making cards out of Kraft card stock (oh, and then slip them into those matching Kraft envelopes!). That’s why I just had to participate in today’s Ways to Use It challenge on SCS: Kool Kraft. The design is clean and simple, and uses Fall-to Layout #39 from the clean & simple stamping blog.

Just a quick, simple card for today’s Sketch Challenge on SCS (SC227). I also used the yummy color combination posted by Kristina Werner (#51). The textured designer paper really makes the card, don’t you agree? I had fun attaching the 1/2″ circles alongside the edge of the image panel, for a larger scallop.
