Eastern Blooms Thanks

Eastern Blooms Thanks

Dawn’s latest color challenge was a tough one! I combined her 15th Raspberry Suite color combo with the latest sketch challenge on SCS (SC243). I pulled Groovy Guava back out of retirement for this card; it was fun to use one of the old In Colors again!

In order to clear emboss the single flower, I inked up the stamp with VersaMark first, then with Groovy Guava Classic ink. The other images were inked up with markers for two different reasons: the branch to make it multi-colored, and the sentiment to omit the other words in the ‘thanks so much’ saying.

Platinum Flower

Platinum Flower

Look how gorgeous my Pretties flower turned out by sponging Platinum shimmer paint all over it! It dries very fast, too. Something else I altered: the (white) Bride Specialty Paper I used for the background. I sponged Rich Razzleberry ink on top, and the design resisted the ink.

The layout I used is Jen del Muro’s Sketch For You To Try (8/22/09), but horizontally.

For My Bicycle Guy

For My Bicycle Guy

My husband is really into bicycles and he just got a brand-new one. Since his birthday is next week, I knew I had to dig up any bicycle stamp I had for his card. By omitting the basket and flowers from the Time for You bike image, I managed to create a masculine card with this retired set.

This card uses Beate’s Weekend Sketch #94 and some of the wonderful sheets from the Nouveau Chic Designer Series Paper collection.

Layered Birthday Cake

Layered Birthday Cake

You probably wouldn’t want to eat this birthday cake: the frosting on this black embossed image was painted with bleach! I created this card for a new catalog swap with the Great Swaps Girls and picked Birthday Bliss as my new stamp set. The sentiment was inked up with two different markers, stamped and punched out with the Designer Label punch.

The layout I followed was Fall-To Layout #30 from the clean & simple stamping blog. I did add the Fun & Fast Notes birthday cake image in the left bottom corner to complement the birthday sentiment.

Holiday Greetings

Holiday Greetings

Have you started thinking about cards for the holiday season yet? I sure have! The wonderful Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper makes creating beautiful creations so easy. This particular paper has a very nice metallic sheen to it that I wasn’t able to capture in my picture. Also barely visible in the photo is the shimmer paint I sponged on top of the Soft Suede ink when I inked up the Dasher image (if you click on the picture you may be able to see it better).

The Sahara Sand Top Note die-cut was run through the Big Shot a second time to create this elegant square. I used it as the “tent topper” on my 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card, making sure the overall height of the card stayed at 5-1/2″ so it still fits inside a regular envelope.
