Wax Paper Resist

Wax Paper Resist

For this card I again was inspired by Kristina Werner’s Color Inspiration challenge. This time I also managed to combine it with today’s Demo Challenge on splitcoaststampers.com, which was to use the Wax Paper Resist technique. You can find a great tutorial for this technique on SCS.

Per Kristina’s challenge, the colors I used were (a little bit of) Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Sahara Sand. I used Pumpkin Pie for the wax resist, and also to stamp the Sanded background on the Sahara Sand card stock. The birthday saying was stamped on Whisper White paper and punched out with the key tag punch. I layered two photo corners on top of each other and attached them to the sentiment with a So Saffron brad. Linen thread was wrapped around the wax resist piece, and also threaded through the three square So Saffron buttons in the lower right corner.

Thanks for stopping by!

Featured Stamper: Silke Ledlow

I am a big fan of Silke’s work, and was very happy to see her picked as today’s Featured Stamper on SCS! I immediately knew that I wanted to CASE her recent color blocking card, and so I did.

I stamped the Essence of Love flowers in VersaMark on So Saffron card stock and embossed them with black embossing powder. The butterflies are black Sale-A-Bration rub-ons on Whisper White paper that I cut out and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The “for you” sentiment is also a black rub-on from the same package. All hardware on the card is Styled Silver Hodgepodge from the Occasions Mini Collection 2008.

Thanks for stopping by!

Smile

Smile

I tried staying up for Kristina Werner’s fifth Color Inspiration challenge and managed to finish this card tonight. I may have to fill in the details later…

ETA: I started out wanting to try Laura Fredrickson’s Roll with the Punches technique and rolled my Spot On jumbo wheel in Certainly Celery ink on Whisper White paper. There was just a little too much white to my liking and I ended up punching out the circles and matching them up with the white wheeled images on Bashful Blue card stock.

I stamped “smile” from the Be Happy set in Close to Cocoa ink on Whisper White and matted the 1-1/4″ circle with a slightly larger Bashful Blue circle. I tucked a white scalloped circle underneath the Bashful Blue layer to make the sentiment stand out more.

Thanks for taking a look at my late night attempt!

Featured Stamper: Jodi (Kharmagirl)

Featured Stamper: Jodi (Kharmagirl)

The card I made for today’s Featured Stamper challenge on SCS turned out very difficult to photograph. Anyone who knows me, knows I very rarely use glitter, but I was strangely attracted to Jodi’s sparkly heart card and I wanted to CASE it.

I started with a regular size (5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″) card in River Rock card stock and mounted a piece of Le Jardin Designer Series paper on top. The Print Pattern background stamp was first inked up with So Saffron ink, and then I used a sponge dauber to add River Rock ink to some of the edges of the diamonds before I stamped it on Very Vanilla paper. The corners were punched and a ribbon tied around it.

The big chipboard flower was covered with another piece of Le Jardin DS paper and glittered up with Dazzling Diamonds. I decided to add a saying to the card with the birthday stamp from Circle of Friendship, stamped in River Rock ink and matted on a Soft Sky circle.

Chipboard Star

Chipboard Star

This morning I found out that Stampin’ Up! is having a chipboard sale next month, so I decided to add a “chipboard” card to my stamp class next week.

I took a large star from the Simon Upper On Board package and traced the outline on Afternoon Tea Designer Series paper. After cutting out the star, I adhered it to the chipboard with my new favorite adhesive (Tombow Multi Purpose) and sanded the edges down after the glue dried. The smaller dotted star was stamped in Close to Cocoa ink on Whisper White paper and punched out. I needed a small sentiment for the small star and found “wow!” in the Amazing to Zany stamp set.

I cut a 3-1/2″ circle out of Soft Sky paper and ran the silver end of my ZIG Painty pen along the edge. A 2″ strip of striped Afternoon Tea DS paper was placed over the circle and four silver eyelets set in the corners.

All in all a quick and simple card with a little bit of wow! Thanks for stopping by!
