Slider Card

Slider Card Closed

I had a lot of fun making a slider card at my friend Leilani’s a few weeks ago and decided to make one for the GreatSwaps “Fancy Fold/Cards that Move” swap. You can find Beate’s Slider Card tutorial in the Resources section of Splitcoaststampers. I started out with a 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Perfect Plum card stock, scored at 2-1/2″, 5-1/4″ and 8″. This way you can make two slider cards from one 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet and the finished cards fit inside the small open-end Stampin’ Up! envelopes.

I decorated the front of the card by rolling the Stems & Silhouettes jumbo wheel in Perfect Plum ink on Very Vanilla paper. The edges were sponged with River Rock ink. The Wonderful You flower was stamped in Jet Black StazOn ink on Very Vanilla paper as well and colored with Classic inks and blender pens. I punched a 5-Petal flower out of River Rock card stock to go behind the colored flower. Both were adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside, I stamped birthday wishes on the two 2-1/2″ x 4″ River Rock pieces in Jet Black StazOn ink. The leaves were stamped in VersaMark and the outside corners rounded.

The ribbon on the left hand side is used to reveal the wishes inside the card, and is threaded through a jumbo Antique Brass eyelet. I realized afterwards that the card may work better for a left-handed person (such as me), but I’m sure even right-handed people will like it!

This interactive card is definitely fun to make and to receive!

Time for You

Stampin’ Up! has chosen to display another one of my cards in their online photo gallery today. Just like last Friday, the card was created for a swap with my GreatSwaps pals (you can see their names in the sidebar). It’s just a wonderful experience to be in this group with all these talented ladies!

You can see all the details for my Time for You card in my February 27th blog entry.

Boho Friend

Boho Friend
I spent way too much time on this card today! I followed Beate’s sketch for this weekend, and used a color combination suggested by Stampin’ Up! for the Soft Sky In Color: Soft Sky, Close to Cocoa, Ruby Red, and Taken with Teal.

I wanted to use one of the metal edge tags on this layout, but I had a hard time centering the medallion image inside the metal ring. I ended up stamping the image on Soft Sky paper with Close to Cocoa ink and removing the white paper from the metal edge tag. Then I glued the ring onto the Soft Sky paper. The medallion was stamped two more times on Whisper White paper, with Taken with Teal and Ruby Red ink. The teal medallion was punched out with the 1-1/4″ circle punch, and the red flower cut out with paper snips. Every layer of the medallion is supported by a Stampin’ Dimensional (or two or three).

I inked up the word Friend from the Boho Backgrounds set with a Close to Cocoa marker and stamped it on a Soft Sky scrap. The paper was then cut even more so that it would fit inside the small HodgePodge frame. I attached the frame to the Taken with Teal panel with Whisper White taffeta ribbon.

Featured Stamper: Laura Fredrickson

Featured Stamper: Laura Fredrickson

I’m a few days late for the Featured Stamper challenge on SCS, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to CASE one of scrapnextras’ cards (her work is fabulous!).

Seeing Laura’s Copper Kiss DS Paper card in her gallery, I was reminded of all of the retired copper SU supplies I had stashed away. This was the perfect opportunity to use some of them again: Copper Kiss Designer Series paper and vellum, copper cord and (copper) vintage brads.

Instead of a kickstand card, I made mine a “tent topper” and I used the 3/16″ corner rounder punch (with guide removed) to create the scalloped edges.
