Happy Independence Day to my fellow US citizens, both natural-born and naturalized! I wanted to create a card to celebrate this special day.
The card base is a piece of 12″ x 3″ textured Whisper White card stock folded in half, with the outside corners rounded. First I stamped the sentiment in Not Quite Navy and Real Red inks, then I added a few dry-embossed stars using the Punches Plus brass stencil. I rubbed the inside of the card with wax paper before dry embossing, so that the stylus would glide more easily across the paper.
The Classic Backgrounds set was used for both the big star and the little ones inside the word “celebrate.” I used a Styled Silver brad with matching star and Real Red striped grosgrain ribbon as embellishments. You can click on the image to see a larger picture.
Have a safe and festive holiday weekend!

I knew I was going to love Stampin’ Up!’s new Riding Hood Red In Color! Here’s a card I made featuring products from the upcoming Fall-Winter 2008 Idea Book & Catalog, available August 11. I used the layout from SCS Sketch Challenge 183.
First I stamped the Twill background with Riding Hood Red ink on a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ Riding Hood Red card. A piece of Kiwi Kiss card stock was also stamped with the Twill background, in Kiwi Kiss ink. I sponged Chocolate Chip ink around the edges before adhering a Bella Rose panel and the Kiwi Kiss panel to the card.
Happiness Always will be a level 3 hostess set in Stampin’ Up!’s new catalog. I inked up the big leaf image with Kiwi Kiss and stamped off once before stamping it on the Whisper White panel. This was repeated several times. The sentiment was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink. The flowers were stamped and cut out, and mounted on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In the left corner of the white panel, I tied taffeta ribbon to an Aged Copper clip and added a flower on top of the clip. Three brads in the bottom left corner finish the card off nicely.
Hope you liked this sneak peek! Come back for more later!

This is the second time I get to CASE my Great Swaps friend Dawn McVey. She was the Featured Stamper on SCS back in May when I created this card. This time I combined the 8th GSG Featured Swapper challenge with this week’s Color Combination challenge on SCS: Purely Wild Celery. I picked this card by Dawn for inspiration.
I layered a Wild Wasabi polka-dot panel on a top-folded Certainly Celery card. The flower image from the Always stamp set was stamped five times in Purely Pomegranate ink on Whisper White card stock and cut out. I added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds to the center of each flower. The flowers were adhered to the card over a 3/4″ strip of Wild Wasabi card stock.
The sentiment from Happy Everything was stamped on Whisper White and matted with Purely Pomegranate card stock. I inserted a Rose Red brad next to it and adhered it to the card.
Thanks for stopping by!

When I saw the picture Kristina Werner posted on her blog for her 13th Color Inspiration Challenge, I knew I wanted to incorporate flowers and a butterfly into my card. I used Fall-to Layout #4 from the clean & simple blog.
I started by stamping the Floral background in Purely Pomegranate ink on the Regal Rose card. After cleaning the big stamp, I inked it up again with Regal Rose ink and stamped it on Whisper White card stock. The third time I stamped it in Wild Wasabi ink on River Rock card stock. Then I cut out the pieces I wanted and, like doing a puzzle, placed them on the card.
I stamped the butterfly from Touch of Nature in VersaMark on River Rock card stock and embossed it with white Stampin’ Emboss powder before cutting it out. The saying is from the Time for You set (in the Occasions Mini Catalog) and was stamped in Purely Pomegranate ink on textured Whisper White paper. A Rose Red button was adhered next to the sentiment with a mini glue dot. No thread was used on the card; I drew a little stripe on the button with my white gel pen.

Well, it is if you’re doing the 2008 Holiday Card Challenge at splitcoaststampers.com. This is my card design for the month of June. I was inspired by today’s color challenge on SCS (Taken with Teal, Wild Wasabi, and Whisper White), but I chose a lighter green instead.
I used two images from the Punch Pals set, but stamped the larger one two times – once in Taken with Teal ink on Whisper White card stock, and once in VersaMark on Taken with Teal card stock. The latter was then embossed with white Stampin’ Emboss powder and punched out. I also used a small (1-1/2″) aluminum metal edge tag and some retired velvet ribbon on the card.
All in all a clean and simple card – perfect for mass production!
