70th Birthday

My father-in-law is celebrating his 70th birthday today. I pulled out this retired Treehouse Designer Series Paper with its nice masculine colors for his birthday card. The sketch I used is Jen del Muro’s Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT February 7, 2009).

Pretty much everything on this card is retired Stampin’ Up! product, except for most of the card stock and the three brads.

Blog Candy Winner's Favorite Colors

This is the card I made with my blog candy winner’s favorite colors: Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, and Very Vanilla. I used SCS’s sketch from last Wednesday’s challenge (SC214).

I let random.org pick a winner for me and they came up with:

Lucky # 19

Congratulations, Missy (lucky commenter #19)! The stamp set, DSP and hand-made cards will be on their way to your home shortly.

Thanks to everybody who so kindly left a comment on my “blogoversary” post. I look forward to another fun year of stamping and blogging!

You Hit the Jackpot!

You Hit the Jackpot!

I’m thinking this shaker card would make a nice, non-traditional Valentine. I stamped the slot machine images inside the shaker box by inking up parts of the Game Night stamp with markers. That’s how I got three hearts in a row — jackpot!

I used the Word Window punch on Basic Black card stock and then trimmed the paper to the right size. There are little dimensionals underneath the silver brads, attaching the black piece to the silver shaker box. Inside the shaker box are tiny silver microbeads, which are part of the Silver Duo beads package.

The ‘Jackpot’ sentiment was matted first on silver card stock, then on black. I pierced the black mat without using my Mat Pack, to mimic the whimsical dots on the stamped image. ‘Big Winner’ was stamped with black StazOn ink on So Saffron card stock and punched out with the Round Tab punch. I only used one half of the punched-out piece, and adhered it behind the Jackpot panel.

First Blog Anniversary

January 31st, 2009 · 29 Comments

I almost missed my one year blog anniversary! I started this blog very quietly on January 31, 2008, and I am very happy I took the plunge back then. I’d like to thank you all for visiting me this past year by offering some blog candy: the Serene Spring hostess set from the Fall-Winter 2008 catalog, various 6″ x 6″ sheets of (retired) Designer Series Paper and a few of my handmade cards.

Interested? Then leave a comment for me right here. Since I started my blog by posting what my favorite color is, why don’t you tell me your favorite color combination. I will draw a name at random on Friday, February 6 to determine the winner of the blog candy and make a card with the winner’s favorite colors.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cute Little Tags

I finished my January cards for the 2009 Christmas Card Challenge in the nick of time! This card was inspired by Dannie Graves’s To You and Yours Christmas Card in the SCS gallery. I had to change the color scheme, because I didn’t have enough red Holiday Treasures Designer Series Paper left over to make 10 cards.

The sentiment was stamped with Chocolate Chip Craft ink (and clear embossed) on a Naturals White tag that I created with the new Stampin’ Up! exclusive Lots of Tags sizzlits die. I sponged Old Olive and Chocolate Chip ink along the edge of the tag. Parts of the embossed main image were colored in with Whisper White Craft ink and a blender pen. I ran some Old Olive grosgrain ribbon behind the main panel and added one of the new (white) 5/16″ brads.

Did you know I was the lucky winner of the 2008 Holiday Card Challenge? That was such a wonderful surprise!
