Just two months after my arrival in the States, my niece was born in Belgium. It’s hard to believe it’s been 18 years! Lize is a very talented soccer player, and with the helpful suggestion of my DH to use soccer balls to form an eight, I came up with this design for her birthday card. I hope she’ll like it!
The birthday greetings were stamped with VersaMark ink along the left edge of a 4-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Basic Black card stock and embossed with white powder. I added a 3-1/8″ x 3-1/8″ piece of (retired) Pretty in Pink Prints Designer Series Paper and tied pink taffeta ribbon around the panel.
I stamped the Just Soccer images with black StazOn ink on Shimmery White card stock and cut/punched them out. They were adhered to the patterned paper with dimensionals, as was the black panel to the Shimmery White card.

I noticed there are new Clean & Simple (CAS) challenges on Splitcoast, and this week the challenge was a sketch. I combined it with today’s color combination challenge: Summer Kiwi Pies.
My card is larger than the cards I usually make (it measures 5″ x 7″) and is made out of textured Kiwi Kiss card stock. The Summer Sun panel measures about 5″ x 3″ and has a torn bottom edge. I wheeled the Friendly Words jumbo wheel with Kiwi Kiss ink onto Whisper White card stock and added some Summer Sun specks with the Color Spritzer. After I cleaned the wheel, I inked up one of the sentiments on the wheel with a Pumpkin Pie marker, rolled on Whisper White card stock, and punched out with the wide oval punch. This was layered on top of one of the Lots of Tags die-cuts with dimensionals.
The large Pumpkin flower was created with the Simple Flower embosslits die and embellished with a 5/16″ white brad. The small flowers from the Simple Friendship set were stamped with Pumpkin Pie ink, and I used a blender pen to soften the lines right after I stamped the images.

I designed a diagonal double pocket card with the Delicate Dots Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper for my stamp class this weekend. You can find the tutorial for this interesting card fold on SCS (right here). I decorated the front with a couple of Little Leaves (sizzlits die-cuts) and a Pretties flower dressed up with two five-petal punched flowers and a corduroy button.
The wide tag in the first pocket was stamped with flowers from the Polka Dot Punches set (you can’t see them in the picture) and the sentiment from the A Beautiful Thing stamp set. The skinny tag, matted on Bashful Blue card stock, was stamped with images from the Flight of the Butterfly set.

Doesn’t the Juntos Designer Series Paper look like it was made for the Rustic Rooster hostess set? I love the More Mustard and Really Rust colors with this image. The technique I used was something I saw in the February/March 2009 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. I simplified the technique by using a piercing template; it really helps you get those piercings spaced evenly!
The diamond background was created with a Texturz plate in the Big Shot and sponged with Chocolate Chip ink afterwards. I stamped the rooster with Basic Brown ink and colored in the spotlight with watercolor crayons and an aqua painter. I didn’t want to use any ribbon (trying to keep the card masculine), so I added a few brads in the bottom right hand corner.
Thanks for looking!

When I got my new Full Heart punch, I knew I wanted to try the “Punched Through” technique from the October/November 2008 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter with it. The colors I used on this card are from Kristina Werner’s latest Color Inspiration challenge (#42). Luckily I had three different kinds of Kiwi Kiss ribbon to fill the heart with: dotted ribbon from the Pig Tails Ribbon Originals, 5/8″ striped grosgrain ribbon, and Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla satin ribbon.
I punched the heart out of a 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ More Mustard square (just slide the paper all the way in and the heart will be nicely centered) and sponged Really Rust ink along the edge of the heart. Then I adhered the ribbons with Sticky Strip to the back of the card stock. This was matted onto Really Rust card stock and I added some piercing along the edges. Pretty late for a Valentine, but I’m sure I can find somebody who will enjoy receiving this card!
