Featured Stamper: Kelly Hampton

I managed to create another card today! This one was inspired by Kelly H, featured stamper #108 on SCS. I found a lovely Bayou Birthday Inspired card in her gallery and decided to recreate the card with some of my new Occasions Mini supplies.

I used a sheet of Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper for the background and adhered it to a Not Quite Navy card. The Oval All sentiment was first stamped with Whisper White Craft ink on Not Quite Navy card stock and punched out with the new scallop oval punch. Then I stamped the thank you with Not Quite Navy ink on Very Vanilla card stock and punched it out with the small oval punch. I tied some Sale-A-Bration grosgrain ribbon around the card and mounted the sentiment on top of the ribbon with dimensionals.

The butterfly was die cut out of textured Baja Breeze card stock. I embellished it a little with a white gel pen and glued it to the card with a mini glue dot.

Thanks for stopping by (again)!

Occasions Mini Sneak Preview

Occasions Mini Sneak Preview

No, I’m not talking about the Easter sets from the upcoming Occasions Mini catalog that are already available (download that sneak peek here). My pre-order arrived today, and I was happy to be able to use new paper, buttons, and stamps for the SCS Sketch Challenge (SC218).

I used the butterfly from the Great Friend set in Whisper White craft ink to make the Baja Breeze background paper. The frame was stamped with Basic Gray ink and the sentiment with Cameo Coral ink. These colors all coordinate with the gorgeous Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper. New Baja Breeze corduroy buttons, too!

Flowers in Silhouette GSG Swap

Flowers in Silhouette GSG Swap

For the second new catty swap I created for the Great Swaps Girls, I used one of Beate’s older Weekend Sketches (#51). I was in desperate need of inspiration and a sketch usually gets me going.

I kept the design clean and simple, using some of the new products (punch, ribbon, paper) in the catalog. The Flowers in Silhouette stamp is similar to one of the images in the Central Park set, just with a shorter stem and without the dotted stripes. You can find it on the “Under $10” page (p. 208) in the Spring-Summer 2009 Idea Book & Catalog.

Darling Dots GSG Swap

March 2nd, 2009 · 4 Comments

Darling Dots GSG Swap

I heard Becky put the swaps from the Great Swaps Girls back in the mail to us today, and I wanted to share the first one I did for the new catty swap. Darling Dots is a new level 1 hostess set, and I thought it would look great with a dotted background created with the Texturz plate, also new in this catalog. The dotted patterned paper is the reverse side of a DSP sheet that has green and black skulls all over it (I can’t see myself ever using that side on a card!).

The cupcake was inked up with markers and stamped on glossy white paper. The tag was created in the Big Shot first, then stamped on with the help of the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (and some Dotto to keep the tag from moving). I tied it to the striped grosgrain ribbon with red hemp.

Simple Friendship

Simple Friendship

I honestly don’t know what to think of this card. I started out with Jen del Muro’s sketch and chose the Simple Friendship stamp set because of the large circular image. Perhaps I shouldn’t have tried combining the sketch with Kristina Werner’s colors (from her 43rd color inspiration challenge), but what’s done is done.

The round image was stamped with Chocolate Chip Craft ink on Whisper White card stock and clear embossed. I colored the flowers with Classic inks and a blender pen, then punched out the 1-3/4″ circle. The sentiment at the bottom of the card was stamped on (retired) Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper and the flowers on the Pumpkin Pie panel were stamped with the same color ink. I embellished with ribbons and an Old Olive felt flower.
