The little girl next door is having a birthday soon, and I thought she might enjoy a card with the cute bunny from the Forest Friends Occasions Mini set. The sketch I used is Jen del Muro’s current SFYTT. The faux felt technique was used on the Close to Cocoa background panel. What you do is run a piece of card stock through the paper crimper a few times at different angles until you are able to separate the two layers. The “inside” feels like felt, just as soft as the felt ribbon I used on the card.
The bunny was cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I added a few clouds in the background by sponging Bashful Blue ink off the edge of a scalloped circle onto the Whisper White card stock. The flower button got a little faux thread with the help of a white gel pen.

Did you happen to see the instructions for making an accordion flower on page 5 of the Sale-A-Bration catalog? I finally tried making one today, and ended up using it on a card for Weekend Sketch Challenge #72 (posted on Jenn’s blog today). Combined with the Going Green Ways to Use It challenge on SCS, the end result was a St. Patrick’s Day card!
Next time I make an accordion flower, I will score the 1″ x 12″ strip of paper every quarter inch (instead of every half inch) to make the flower stick out less. Not that I would ever even try to mail a card like this one!

I love this new Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die for making quick, elegant cards! I ran some Sweet Always Designer Series Paper through the Big Shot inside this clear plastic die (which wraps around the paper like an embossing folder), and sanded the raised flowers afterwards to make them pop.
The stamp set I used, Oval All, is from the upcoming Occasions Mini catalog, as is the scallop oval punch (which works wonderfully with the large oval punch).

Did you all remember to set your clocks one hour ahead this morning (if you live in one of the US Daylight Saving Time areas)? I thought it was fitting to use the image of a clock on my CASEd card today. The card that inspired me in StampingQueenJar‘s gallery was this one: A Child is Born. The layout caught my eye, because I wanted to use images from the Sense of Time set (one of my Occasions Mini pre-order items).
The Juntos Designer Series Paper reminds me of old wallpaper, and it looks good with the vintage image. I did some sponging and distressing with the tool from the Cutter Kit. A vintage brad, matted with a 1/4″ Mellow Moss circle, was placed in the center of the clock. Knotted Bravo Burgundy ribbon was used behind the (wonderful!) sentiment.

I can’t remember the last time I made a card without using any stamps (it’s been a while!). I did use ink, though, and I have a Pink Pirouette thumb to prove it! I pushed the white flower from the Pretties Kit into the ink pad with my thumb until it was totally covered. Didn’t expect it to turn out so dark, though.
When I saw Kristina Werner’s Color Inspiration Challenge #44, I remembered having a lot of retired Berry Bliss Designer Series Paper left over in my stash. So I used two prints from the package, one in Pretty in Pink, and one in Close to Cocoa. The sentiment is a Chocolate Chip rub-on from the Chit Chat package. The flower was further embellished with a clear button, a corduroy button, and some retired pink gingham ribbon. Oh, and I used Fall-To Layout #32 from the clean & simple stamping blog.
