Gosh, how do you CASE a Beate original? I knew I had to pick one of the many cards that I had saved to My Favorites on SCS, and I ended up choosing her Ring my bell card. She may appreciate the fact that I used a European (Dutch) sentiment on the card, even though it’s not German.

My clock image was a bit larger than hers, so I adjusted the sketch (and the card size). I omitted the ribbon and placed my brads in different areas on the card. The colors are similar to hers, but I used the new In Colors Baja Breeze and Tangerine Tango instead of Soft Sky and Groovy Guava, which were last year’s In Colors.

Quick Card

Quick Card

Here’s a quick card (no stamping!) I made for a “Brads, Eyelets, or Buttons” swap with my upline’s group. I started with a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ Elegant Eggplant card and rubbed a white sentiment from the Chit Chat package in the bottom right corner. A strip of Whisper White card stock was made pretty with the eyelet border punch and adhered to a 5-1/4″ x 2″ piece of Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper.

I ran a piece of Baja Breeze card stock through the Big Shot with the Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die and cut the large scallop circle in half. A 1″ Elegant Eggplant circle and a Baja Breeze corduroy button were placed in the center of the Pretties flower, which was then adhered to the card with a pop-up glue dot.

For the WICKED Birthday Girl

For the WICKED Birthday Girl

My Great Swaps friend Carolina is this month’s hostess of the WICKED demo challenges on SCS. Today happens to be her birthday, and I decided to make a card for her using her WICKED color combination and sketch. I guess you can say that this was quite the challenge for me!

I used the Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die on Bella Rose Designer Series Paper, sanded the raised images and then sponged Tangerine Tango ink over them. The images along the bottom edge are from the Boho Backgrounds set and were stamped with Tangerine Tango ink on Whisper White card stock. The Oval All sentiment was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink on Bashful Blue card stock and punched out.

The flat bow was created with two pieces of Old Olive grosgrain ribbon and several mini glue dots. First I took a 5″ ribbon and glued the ends together. Then I wrapped a short ribbon around the center and attached the ends in the back. This bow was mounted on top of the ribbon that was wrapped around the edges of the Bashful Blue panel.

Friendly Rose

Friendly Rose

I was inspired by all the paper tole flowers I’ve been seeing lately, especially Lisa Somerville’s. I stamped the large Fifth Avenue Floral image three times with Pretty in Pink ink on Pink Pirouette card stock and cut those out to various sizes. I sponged Pretty in Pink ink around the edges before assembling the flower with dimensionals.

The Friendly Words wheel was rolled along the top of the Basic Gray card (I lined up the seam of the wheel with the edge of the card). The patterned paper I used is from the Walk in the Park Occasions Mini Designer Series Paper package. I scalloped the bottom edge and added three vintage brads, using the pattern of the paper to determine their placement.

I was impressed with the huge amount of fabulous artwork in FS Twinshappy‘s gallery this morning! Of course my eye fell on an orange card, Stacy’s Sympathy butterflies. I knew I could use the images in the Great Friend Occasions Mini set to make a similar card.

The butterflies were stamped with Whisper White Craft ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice powder (you should see them sparkle IRL!). The sentiment was stamped on textured Whisper White card stock, which was also used for the background panel with the punched border. I found a small half pearl in the Pretties Kit that was just perfect to finish off the card.
