My dear friend Gill, whom I have known since she was four years old, is graduating from college next month. I made this card for her with her school colors: black, red, and white. The layout is (almost) that of today’s sketch challenge on SCS (SC223). Hopefully I didn’t break too many rules by using a circle instead of a square.
The background was created by stamping one image multiple times (of course I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig!). The jumbo grommet from the Occasions Mini catalog has little prongs in the back, which I first folded over with a bone folder before tying the ribbon through it.

I’m a couple days late with my FS challenge card, but I found such a neat layout in justwritedesigns‘s gallery that I just had to CASE: Dad’s Day Argyle. My version is less whimsical than hers (no dotted or stitched lines), and the colors are a little more subdued.
Instead of using a multi-color inkpad, I decided to use the Rock ‘n’ Roll technique on some of my images. The Lovely Letter L was first inked up with Baja Breeze ink, then “rolled” onto the Chocolate Chip ink pad. The small damask image, also from the Lovely Letters alphabet set, was first inked up with Creamy Caramel ink, then “rolled” onto the Chocolate Chip ink pad.

Lots of Flower Pot cards in the SCS gallery today, thanks to the Technique Lovers Challenge (TLC215). I followed the given instructions to create my Tangerine Tango pocket card in the shape of a flower pot.
The flowers were cut out of Summer Sun card stock with the daisy flower sizzlits die, and I embellished them with Basic Gray corduroy brads, ’cause that reminded me of sunflowers. The leaves were created with the 5-petal flower punch.
The birthday sentiment was stamped with Tangerine Tango ink on Whisper White card stock and punched out. I sponged the edge before adhering it to the Summer Sun scalloped oval. The tag was fastened to the grosgrain ribbon with linen thread (I even tied a tiny bow!).

Time for another Kristina Werner Color Inspiration Challenge (#48)! I was very happy to see the colors she picked, because it meant I could use some of my favorite patterned papers. The card base is the sturdy, textured Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Kiwi Kiss dotted paper is from the Bella Rose DSP package.
The layout I used for this card is Jen del Muro’s Sketch for You to Try this week (4/4/09). I used the scallop square punch for the three small squares in the background, and mounted 1-1/8″ Whisper White squares on top. The flowers are from the Eastern Blooms set.
The sentiment from Hope Happens was stamped with Chocolate Chip Craft ink and clear embossed. I added a little dry-embossing with the Dots brass template and wrapped a piece of green satin ribbon around the Baja Breeze card stock before adding the brown scalloped borders.

Stampin’ Up! is not the only one celebrating their 20th anniversary this year; my sister and her husband tied the knot 20 years ago this month. I discovered that emerald green and white are the colors traditionally associated with a 20th wedding anniversary. The closest I could come to emerald green was Wild Wasabi, a retired In Color, and I dug up some matching (also retired) patterned paper for this card.
The large sentiment from Celebrate Everything was inked up with a VersaMarker and white embossed. The smaller sentiment from Hugs & Wishes was stamped with Wild Wasabi ink on Whisper White card stock and punched out. I added the couple’s initials with a retired mini alphabet set.
Mary Jo Albright came up with this layout for the Weekend Sketch Challenge (WSC75). It was just what I needed!
