Free Standing Pop-Up Card

Free Standing Pop-Up Card

“Plant your feet firmly and let your heart have wings.” I thought this sentiment was a perfect match for these butterflies. Have you tried making one of these pop-up cards yet? I participated in a “pop-up card” swap and decided to use this great tutorial by Mary Jo Albright on SCS: Free Standing Pop-Up Card. The amazing thing is that this card folds completely flat for mailing!

I stamped the Great Friend butterfly twice with Riding Hood Red ink on Whisper White card stock, and twice on a Post-it® note. The latter were cut out to be used with the masking technique: Cover the stamped butterflies with the masks and stamp the large grass image on top of the butterflies with Kiwi Kiss ink. When you remove the Post-it® notes, the grass appears to be in the background.

Surprise Card

Surprise Card

I’m sending this birthday card as a surprise to my brother-in-law’s aunt in Belgium. I’ve never met her, but I heard she enjoys getting cards in the mail, and I’m sure she will appreciate a card all the way from “Amerika”.

The sketch is today’s challenge on SCS (SC229), and the patterned paper I used is from the Bella Birds Designer Series Paper package. Better stock up on the DSPs and textured card stock you like this month, while they’re on sale!

Pop-Up Cake Card

Pop-Up Cake Card (outside)

This is one of the cards we made in my May stamp classes. On the outside, this birthday card was intentionally kept very simple. But when you open it, a birthday cake pops out!

Pop-Up Cake Card (inside)

It was the first card I designed with the new Sizzix Three Tier Cake die, and I used Jackpot Designer Series Paper for all three tiers. The directions that came with the die were so easy to follow; I can’t wait to make another pop-up cake!

Card with Monogram

Card with Monogram

When I got the Lovely Letters stamp set last year (for free thanks to Sale-A-Bration!), I fully intended to make loads of monogrammed cards with it. I’ve made a few, but I am hoping this set makes it into the next catalog, so that I can keep showing it off a while longer. We’ll know on June 1st, when Stampin’ Up! announces the Last Chance List!

The card colors were determined by the Tea Party DSP I used for the oval panel. I adhered the vellum scalloped border (also part of the Oval Scallop Frame Bigz Die) only in two places, behind the ribbon. The ribbon was threaded through two slots that were punched through all layers and was tied together with linen thread.
