True Thyme and Wintergreen

True Thyme and Wintergreen

I was feeling nostalgic and looked through my retired Christmas papers to find the wonderful Wintergreen Designer Series Paper. On this card, I combined it with Sage Shadow and True Thyme (which is a retired In Color). The layout is a slightly modified SFYTT by Jen del Muro (5/23/09).

I stamped the house image and sentiment from the To You & Yours set (which is still available) with True Thyme ink on a Whisper White oval and matted with a True Thyme oval, then pierced along the edge. Two silver brads were inserted on either side of the greeting. The front of the Sage Shadow card was trimmed to measure 3″ wide, and a scalloped strip of Whisper White card stock was adhered along the edge. The white contrasts nicely with the dark strip of Wintergreen DSP that was adhered inside the card.

Rock On, Dude!

Rock On, Dude!

I had no idea if I was ever going to use this Chit Chat rub-on, but when I saw the colors in Kristina Werner’s latest color inspiration challenge (#53), I thought these would make a great “dude” card. The sketch is Fall-To Layout #43 on Natasha’s clean & simple stamping blog.

The white background panel was run through the Big Shot with a texturz plate. The star image from the Fun & Fast Notes set was stamped with black StazOn ink on various pieces of colored card stock, and then stamped and paper pieced together on a Whisper White circle. I stapled three different ribbons onto the white panel, and rubbed the sentiment on top of the Real Red grosgrain ribbon.

Featured Stamper: Mercy Kerin

Featured Stamper: Mercy Kerin
My fellow Great Swaps Girl, Mercy Kerin, is today’s FS on Splitcoaststampers. Her designs are just fabulous, and I couldn’t wait to CASE one of her cards! I picked this Kind Friend card from her gallery, and applied the colors from Dawn’s latest Raspberry Suite Color Challenge (#7): Raspberry (I used Pomegranate), Artichoke, and Celery.

I kept the layout and the wide ribbon, but used eyelets on the scalloped border instead of rhinestones. I added some silver cord as well. The sentiment was inked up with multiple colors, just like on Mercy’s card. Hope I did her proud!

Faux Pinwheel Card

Faux Pinwheel Card

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Time to get out the patriotic red, white, and blue! I used Weekend Sketch #82 (the challenge is hosted by Mary Jo Albright this week), which was just the perfect layout for my pinwheel.

The faux pinwheel was a Workshop Wow challenge on the demo side of SCS (WW104), and I ended up creating my very first video tutorial to explain how I made it. I matted it with a 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Brocade Blue card stock with rounded corners. Three white taffeta ribbons were adhered to the 4-1/4″ square card with mini glue dots, and the sentiment was stamped on a Whisper White banner. I used a white gel pen to give the illusion of white thread going through the Riding Hood Red buttons.
