If you’ve signed up for my stamp class next week, here’s a sneak peek at one of the cards we’ll be making. It’s a window card, made with the new scallop oval movers & shapers die and that fabulous new Medallion background stamp.
I combined one of the new In Colors, Bermuda Bay, with a color I hardly ever use: Handsome Hunter. The combination works quite well, but perhaps that doesn’t show in my photograph (which I had a hard time taking). I’d love to hear tips on photographing window cards, if you have any!

I’ve always been too lazy to try the (real) iris folding technique, but when I saw this faux version explained in the latest Technique Junkie Newsletter, I couldn’t wait to use it on a card.
After making this Asian card yesterday, I noticed that the Lattice die creates a nice frame for this technique. I took a 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock and ran it through the Big Shot with the Lattice die. Then I placed 3/4″ strips of Razzleberry Lemonade designer series paper inside the frame until it was completely filled in.
This Dutch birthday card will be sent to my great aunt Louisa in Belgium who turns 98 years young next week! She has given me many real iris folding cards in the past, and I hope she won’t mind my using a faster, less complicated technique.

“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” This wonderful sentiment is one of the stamps in the Asian Artistry level 2 hostess set. I created this monochromatic card because I was inspired by the sketch in this month’s WICKED demo challenge on SCS, hosted by Joanne Travis (AKA sleepyinseattle).
The Soft Suede patterned papers are from the Thoroughly Modern DSP package, and I used the new Lattice die-cut on top of the 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ square. The mat for the the sentiment was created with the Punch Windows Movers & Shapers die. I did some piercing along the edges of the Kraft card and in two corners of the image panel. It’s great to finally have a separate paper-piercing tool available in the catalog!

Look at this gorgeous new Designer Series Paper! Isn’t it marvelous? I was happy to be able to use three different patterns with this week’s SCS sketch (SC236). The pattern I used to cover the card base reminded me of the feathers in the peacock’s tail.
The image I used is one of four very diverse ‘thank you’ images in the Very Thankful Ronald McDonald set. For every set sold, Stampin’ Up! donates $2 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities®. Peacocks are quite “hot” in the stamping world right now (or so I’m told) and I really like this elegant design.

Well, my wish would be for an easier color combination next week! Guest hostess Faith picked these colors for the CC226 challenge today: Baja Breeze, Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal, and Creamy Caramel. How’s that for a real challenge!
I ended up mimicking the candles on the Birthday Bliss image, cutting them out of Tempting Turquoise card stock. The flames were cut out of Apricot Appeal card stock and sponged with Creamy Caramel ink. I used retired Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Series Paper in the background and tied my tag to the card with Apricot Appeal grosgrain ribbon.
