I finally started working on some cards to swap with other demonstrators at Stampin’ Up!’s convention in Utah next month. This peacock is staying home, though. The card just didn’t feel swap-worthy to me. No harm in posting it on my blog, I hope!

Although… after a few days of no stamping I was starting to feel a little rusty! I wasn’t sure what to think of the color combination challenge on SCS today (CC228), but I’m pretty happy with the result. The sketch I used is Natasha’s Fall-To Layout 51.
I ran a piece of retired Not Quite Navy DSP through the Big Shot with the new embossing folder and sanded the raised images. The Simple Flower die-cut was lightly stroked with the white ink pad and embellished with a clear rhinestone. My favorite All Holidays sentiment was stamped with Craft ink on the Top Note die-cut and clear embossed.

I sure couldn’t resist this new embossing folder in the 2009-2010 catalog! The first card I made with the Finial Press textured impressions die uses the Embossed Wax Paper Resist technique I found on SCS. You need wax paper, printer paper, and a hot iron (no steam) to turn the glossy card stock into a unique background for your card.
The peacock stamp from the Very Thankful set was inked up with four different markers, then stamped onto the Whisper White oval with the help of my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. The flower was white embossed on Taken with Teal card stock and cut out by hand. A pretty designer button and some organza ribbon finish off the card.

This is a quick, fun little card I made for a swap with a “summer” theme! I used the new Scallop Square clear die to create a note card with scalloped edges. I also punched a scallop square window in it to reveal the summery flip-flops adhered to the inside.

This card was very much inspired by Linda Heller of stampingschool.com. It was made with lots of new SU! products. I picked two new In Colors for the WICKED demo challenge hosted by Joanne Travis (AKA sleepyinseattle): Soft Suede and Dusty Durango. You may notice I didn’t do any stamping on this card. The sentiment was dry-embossed with the new Stampin’ Up! exclusive Hi Embosslits Die. Afterwards I swiped the Soft Suede ink pad over the raised parts of the card stock.
The image that was stenciled on the background Top Note die-cut belongs to the Vintage Ornaments I Décor Stencils; you can find these elegant, “not-just-for-Christmas” stencils in the Definitely Decorative brochure.
