Karen makes absolutely drop dead gorgeous cards, and I was thrilled to see she was chosen as the Featured Stamper on SCS today. I have many of her creations saved to My Favorites, but this is the card I ended up CASEing: Challenge in Gingham. I kept the layout and embellishments the same, but changed the colors and used a different image (a silhouette that didn’t require coloring). Hope I did her proud!

I have a lot of catching up to do if I want to complete all four Viva la Verve sketch challenges this month. I started with the latest one (January Week 4) and chose this foyer as my inspiration.
I created the tiled look by stamping images from the Accent Notes and Thankful Accents sets with gray and green ink. The happy birthday sentiment and frame were stamped with black ink and clear embossed. I thought a double bow would look nice here, so I made one from white taffeta ribbon with the Bow-Easy (and it is really easy to do!).

I’m happy to be participating in Gina K.’s customer blog hop for Melanie Muenchinger’s newest stamp set, called Square Pegs. Start here if you want to hop along!
Today’s Cut It Out challenge on SCS inspired me to cut apart the sentiments before adhering them to the squares. And I used Mercy Kerin’s latest sketch (MTSC57) for my layout.

Even though I didn’t really feel like uploading this particular card, I have spent too much time building this brick wall not to post the results. I shouldn’t have stamped my main image with Soft Suede first (I wanted to create a shadow effect), before stamping it again with Ruby Red Craft ink and clear embossing it. The result, as you can see, is this muddy color; not quite what I had intended!
The color combination I used is this week’s challenge on SCS (Bashful Blue Suede Rubies) and the brick wall technique was Monday’s “Try a New Technique” challenge (TLC256). I cheated a little bit by using grid designer paper, which eliminated the need to draw pencil lines all over my image.

This was just a quick, “clean & simple” (aka CAS) birthday card that I created with the colors from Verve’s January Release Color Challenge: Turquoise, Gray, and Black. I thought it was a great color combo.
The textured papers and bold images really make the card for me. I stamped the images from Fancy Florals Remixed with turquoise and black ink on white card stock and cut them out with a square Nestie. Because of their geometrical design, I’d say these florals even work for masculine cards.
