I designed this 5-minute 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card to take with me to a shoebox swap with fellow SplitcoastStampers in Baltimore, MD today. It was fun to pull out some of my retired Stampin’ Up! stuff (stamps, inks, papers, even tools) for this card.
Do you remember the spectrum pads SU! used to sell? I inked up the solid background image from the Shades of Nature set with the Late November pad and stamped it on glossy card stock. The edges were cut with deckle scissors, also bought from SU! a long time ago. I do hope my fellow swappers don’t mind the lack of embellishments on this card. Anything I tried to add just looked wrong.
Thanks for stopping by!

I’d say this card is a little different for me, and I think I will have to send it to a male recipient. The influence of the inspiration picture (a very modern-looking rug) on this January Week 2 Viva la Verve sketch challenge card must be apparent.
The two rows of tiny squares were stamped and embossed after I had already assembled the card, and you’ll notice the squares aren’t all the same size (which they should be). I guess I was pushing down too hard on one end of the rubber stamp!

ETA: Congratulations, Sue, on winning the blog candy!
On January 31st, 2010, I will be celebrating my second blogiversary. I must say this second year of blogging has just flown by! My heartfelt thanks to all of you who visit my blog and leave your much appreciated encouragements. And what better way to say thanks than by sending some blog candy to one lucky winner:
Interested? Then leave a comment for me right here. Tell me what your favorite card embellishment is. On Sunday I will draw a name at random to determine the winner of the blog candy and make a card decorated with the winner’s favorite finishing touch (provided I can find it in my sizeable stash!).

While I was working on this card, I could hear American Idol Fantasia Barrino singing these very words inside my head. She must have made quite an impression on me back in 2004! I used the sketch from this week’s StampTV challenge (STVSCJH08) and a color combination that was “suggested” to me (wink, wink).
I paper pieced the envelope image from the Sung from the Heart set by stamping it a second time on Blush Blossom card stock and cutting it out. The hearts were colored in with a red marker. The cute little heart brads from Recollections (a Michaels brand) were just perfect to fill in the empty space on the tag.
