I have been wanting to try out my Sticky Cuts Letters ever since I bought them (several months ago), and today I decided to use one on my card for Kristina Werner’s 11th Color Inspiration challenge.
My card measures 6″ x 3″ and is made out of textured Whisper White card stock. I placed the sticky letter H on a piece of So Saffron Prints Designer Series paper and cut around the letter. Then I removed the red lining and poured on tiny silver micro beads. It’s a good idea to do this over a Powder Pal or other type of receptacle (and I’m glad I remembered to do so).
The sentiment was first inked up with Going Gray ink, and then I just went over the words “happy” and “pink” with my Old Olive and Rose Red markers. Wide Old Olive grosgrain ribbon was adhered to the front of the card with Sticky Strip and decorated with seven Rose Red brads (the ribbon on the inside hides the prongs). I layered a couple of felt flowers on top of each other and attached them to the ribbon with a brad.

Cindy is such a sweet person, leaving lots of encouraging comments in the SCS gallery for people who upload their artwork. I was thrilled to see her picked as the Featured Stamper last Sunday. I CASEd a card she made with last year’s Big Blossom Sale-A-Bration set. Speaking of SAB, Stampin’ Up! has announced that Sale-A-Bration will run from February 1 through March 31 in 2009 (and I’ve already added it to my calendar here).
I tried to duplicate the big flower by stamping the polka-dot petal five times on Whisper White card stock, with the pointy ends overlapping. Then I cut the flower out, adhered it to a 4″ x 4″ piece of Basic Black card stock and added some faux stitching with the white gel pen. The heart of the flower was stamped in Jet Black StazOn ink and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I threaded black gingham ribbon through a clear button and used a mini glue dot to adhere it to the flower.
The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark and embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The finished card measures 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ and will fit inside a regular A2 size envelope, with or without applying Julie Ebersole’s neat little trick.

I didn’t quite manage to make 10 cards in May for the 2008 Holiday Card Challenge on SCS, so I am making 20 cards this month. For the first 10, I used the sketch from this week’s Great Swaps Girls challenge (GSGC07). Since I wanted to use some of my retired Holiday Harmony Designer Series paper, the main colors are Always Artichoke and River Rock. The card base is a top-folded 4-1/4″ x 11″ piece of Mellow Moss card stock.
The tree was stamped in Always Artichoke ink on River Rock card stock and cut out with the oval Coluzzle template. Then I smeared Whisper White ink along the edge with my Craft ink pad and used the Itty Bitty Backgrounds set to create the snowflakes. The oval was adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added three little 1/4″ River Rock circles with Rich Regals brads to the 1/2″ Always Artichoke strip along the bottom edge of the card.
And now I have to work on my 10 Christmas cards for the month of June. Thanks for stopping by!

When I saw Beate’s sketch challenge for this weekend, I thought of this sweet bird image from the Touch of Nature set. I also wanted to practice my watercoloring, so I stamped the bird in Basic Brown ink on watercolor paper (about 3″ x 2″). I first put down some Soft Sky ink with my Aqua Painter and let that dry. Then I colored the image in with my Watercolor Wonder Crayons and Aqua Painter. The edges were distressed and sponged with Creamy Caramel ink.
The Twill background was stamped in Bravo Burgundy ink on the same color card. A 2″ strip of Bali Breeze Designer Series paper was lined with 1/4″ Always Artichoke grosgrain ribbon and attached to the card. I chose some Antique Brass Hodgepodge hardware (which retires in August, so I am starting to use it more now) as embellishments.
The three lines of the sentiment were one by one inked with a Chocolate Chip marker and stamped side-by-side on a 1/2″ strip of Kraft paper. The edges were sponged with Creamy Caramel ink.

When I saw this week’s Color Combination challenge on SCS, I immediately thought of Independence Day. I decided to make a 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card out of Blue Bayou card stock. I also used a 4″ x 4″ piece of textured Soft Sky and a 2″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White card stock. With my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I lined up the Real Red number 4 and the partial “thank you” stamp from the Wonderful Words set, which I inked up with a marker. Then I stamped “happy” in Blue Bayou and the little stars from the Classic Backgrounds set in Soft Sky.
I punched out a couple of Blue Bayou stars and a Real Red one, and added eyelets to them. Two stars were given some dimension, and a red gingham ribbon was tied along the bottom edge of the Whisper White panel.
