Ever since I got the large Sizzix scallop circle die, I’ve been wanting to make a circular card with it. I found that the scallops really help stabilize the card, whereas a truly circular card sometimes doesn’t want to stay put. I folded a 11″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Whisper White card stock and ran it through the Big Shot, with the fold just inside the top of the scallop die. I then cut out a Bravo Burgundy scallop circle with the same die, and adhered it to the card front.
The color combination was chosen by Kristina Werner (Color Inspiration #22). For the background, I repeatedly stamped the three flowers in VersaMark ink on Glossy White card stock and then used a brayer to apply Regal Rose ink. I wiped the flowers with a paper towel afterwards, to make them stand out more. The big flower was stamped in Rose Red ink on Glossy White card stock and cut out. I glued it to a 5-Petal flower, punched out of textured Soft Sky card stock.

I’m thrilled with my new Stampin’ Up! Big Shot die cutting machine! It cuts through several pieces of card stock at once. I made these large Chocolate Chip scallop circles for my 10 Holiday Card Challenge cards in less than a minute. The regular circles were cut out with the Coluzzle.
For my September cards, I wanted to use one of my Holiday Mini pre-order sets, A Cardinal Christmas. Sketch #190 on SCS was just what I was looking for. I added some faux stitching to the card with my Mat Pack, paper piercer, and a Chocolate Chip marker. The card measures 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″.

It’s been a while since I’ve done any soot stamping, and I thought this train image would be great for this technique. Never mind that I set the first piece of card stock I used on fire (really be careful with those edges!). Perhaps I should have read that warning in step 1 of SCS’s Soot Stamping tutorial before I started. The second piece of card stock I used was much larger than I needed (so that I could keep the flame away from the edges). I just tore it to size after the acrylic sealer had dried.
I decided to also combine the sketch (SC192) and color combination (CC182) challenges of the past week on this card. That’s why I used Kraft card stock and Kraft Patterns Designer Series Paper together with Basic Black (for the monochromatic look). With the help of my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I created a background with the Happiness is a Journey not a Destination sentiment.

I really shouldn’t check the Featured Stamper challenge before going to bed on Saturday night. I couldn’t resist staying up late, choosing a card from Denise‘s gallery (I picked this one) and making my own version.
The color combination consists of Kiwi Kiss, Perfect Plum, and Whisper White. I chose similar images and added a silver frame around the sentiment. Instead of a corner rounder, I used the ticket corner punch on every layer.
