Holiday Mini Sneak Preview

Holiday Mini Sneak Preview

I pre-ordered a few stamp sets from the upcoming Holiday Mini catalog, and this is the first card I made. The stamp set, Scandinavian Season, and its matching wheel have a very different look. I quite like it!

I used Beate’s sketch for this weekend (#56) and started with a 4-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Riding Hood Red card stock, folded in half. I stamped the star design with VersaMark ink on Baja Breeze paper, embossed it in white, and punched it out. Then I stamped it again with Riding Hood Red ink on Whisper White paper, cut out the flower and added a brad.

The Scandinavian wheel was inked up with the Riding Hood Red pad and wheeled onto Whisper White paper, which was matted with Baja Breeze card stock. Since I’m not sure yet what occasion I’m going to use this card for, no sentiment was used.

Tri-Fold with Butterflies

Tri-Fold with Butterflies

It’s always fun to combine a good sketch challenge with a great color combo, chosen by Kristina Werner (Color Inspiration #21). The tri-fold design was suggested in a challenge on SCS by fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator Patty Bombyk. I started out with a 10-1/2″ x 6″ piece of Kiwi Kiss card stock, scored twice to create the three 3-1/2″ panels. Two 1″ strips of Sweet Always Designer Series Paper were adhered to the card. The Whisper White panels, from left to right, measure: 2-1/2″ x 2″, 1-1/2″ x 3-1/2″, and 2-3/4″ x 2″.

The main butterflies were stamped with Regal Rose and Pacific Point inks, cut out and adhered with dimensionals. The three Rose Red flowers in the right hand bottom corner have white faux brads (I punched 1/8″ circles out of Whisper White card stock and glued them to the flowers).

Beate’s Sketch

August 30th, 2008 · 8 Comments

Beate's Sketch
I’m so happy Beate is back, posting new Weekend Sketch challenges, because I really needed some inspiration for my 10 Holiday Card Challenge cards this month. I used her Sketch #55 and created these 3″ x 6″ Bashful Blue cards with it.

The tree and penguin were stamped with Night of Navy ink on Whisper White card stock and punched out with the Scallop Square punch. I sponged the edges with Bashful Blue ink and added a little bit of color to the images with markers. The Night of Navy mat measures 3-1/2″ x 1-3/4″ and is mounted over the striped grosgrain ribbon with dimensionals. The new Christmas greeting from the Best Yet hostess set was stamped in the bottom right corner.

Featured Stamper: Patricia Rose

Featured Stamper: Patricia Rose

Sweet kokirose is this week’s Featured Stamper on splitcoaststampers.com. I love all the cards she made with Bloomin’ Beautiful, but since I don’t own the set, I tried using my Flores Suaves images instead while CASEing her Just For You card.

The card base is a 11″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Confetti White card stock folded in half. The colors I chose were picked from the Juntos Designer Series Paper: More Mustard, Really Rust, and Always Artichoke. Some corners were punched with the Scallop Edge Punch. The images were stamped with Basic Brown ink and colored in with Watercolor Wonder Crayons and a blender pen. The rose was stamped twice, and the flower and bee were adhered with dimensionals.

Thank You with Bling

Thank You with Bling
Love the new scallop square punch! You can see its little scallops peeking out from behind the 1-1/4″ square which holds the thank you sentiment. I made this card for a swap with a group of stampers in Michigan, and we were asked to use a stamp set from our new catalog pre-order (I chose Wow Flowers). I couldn’t help myself and had to use some of the new accessories, like this gorgeous striped grosgrain ribbon.
