So, I didn’t quite finish all of the challenges for World Card Making Day, but I got this last one in, for the TREE-mendous Challenge.
I decided to use a technique called Magic Pastels that I saw on the Workshop Wow DVD I bought at Stampin’ Up!’s convention this summer. First I stamped the oak tree in Sahara Sand (stamped off once) on Confetti White card stock. Then I added several pockets of color on top of the tree with the Stampin’ Pastels. The image was stamped again right on top of the Sahara Sand tree, with the help of my trusted Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, with Chocolate Chip ink this time.
The special card fold is called a Joy Fold, and my little ribbon and Build-A-Brad embellishment is keeping the card closed.

This month, I decided to make 10 New Year’s cards for the 2008 Holiday Card Challenge on SCS. I just received the Cheers to You set and coordinating wheel on Friday, and I thought the champagne glasses were perfect for a holiday card.
This card uses Beate’s 60th Weekend Sketch (turned on its side) and is pretty clean and simple, since I needed to make 10 of them. I asked my DH what colors I should use for a New Year’s card and he told me “purple and red,” so that’s why I chose an Elegant Eggplant card base. I ran a gold oil-based paint marker along all four edges.
The glasses were stamped with VersaMark ink and gold embossed on a 4-3/8″ x 1-1/4″ piece of Basic Black card stock. The Cheers wheel was also inked up with VersaMark ink and rolled onto a 3-1/4″ x 2″ piece of Riding Hood Red card stock. I wrapped gold elastic cord around it and tied it into a little bow. The sentiment was stamped with Jet Black StazOn on a 2-1/4″ x 1-1/4″ piece of Brushed Gold card stock.

Even though I am surrounded by brand-new Stampin’ Up! rubber, it felt good to pull out these old stamps and papers today. I was immediately drawn to Featured Stamper #87‘s Embossed Vintage Elegance card, because I love that silhouette image so much. The only things I changed were: Designer Series Paper instead of dry-embossed backgrounds, different colors, and no embossing.

Jimmi, another GSG friend of mine, is hosting the Featured Stamper WCMD challenge on SCS today. Her pick: SherryLC05. I chose to CASE Sherry’s All Green Hoppy card, but I didn’t make my version monochromatic and I made mine a 4-1/4″ square card.
I used a stamp from the Holiday Collection Stampin’ Kit that will be featured in the December 2008 issue of Country Living magazine and will be available for purchase on November 1st. It’s nice that several stamps in the set can be used all year round, like this Enjoy sentiment. The ribbon I used is from the retired Flirty Ribbon Originals.

Autumn’s Glory is the WCMD Inspiration Challenge on SCS today, and the Coldwater Creek catalog cover was the inspiration for this clean and simple card.
The Holiday Blitz leaves were stamped on Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, and Kiwi Kiss card stock and cut out. I adhered them to Whisper White “inchies” with a dimensional. The colored mats were punched out with the 1-1/4″ Square Punch. The Sanded background was stamped with More Mustard Craft ink on Chocolate Chip card stock and clear embossed.
And off I go to do another World Card Making Day challenge! Thanks for stopping by!
