I couldn’t let Beate’s 100th Weekend Sketch go by without participating! This card was made with lots of Basic Grey Aged & Confused™ Vagabond™ items (patterned paper, tag, alphabet stickers, fibers) that I have been hoarding for far too long. I thought this composition would make a great masculine birthday card, hence the ‘HB’ for Happy Birthday.

I’ve been pining for these pine trees ever since I first saw them, but (as is often the case) once I have them in my possession, I don’t exactly know what to do with them. I decided to try them for today’s sketch challenge on SCS (SC248). The card came together rather quickly, so I made 9 more of them, just in time to meet the deadline for this month’s Christmas Card challenge.

Today’s Featured Stamper (NANCYRUTH) possibly has the largest gallery on SCS. There were SO many cards to choose from! I finally decided on this cute Butterflies for Maddy card because of the fun ribbon treatment.

I used different colors and butterflies, but stayed pretty close to Nancy’s original. I added a Kiwi Kiss button with a tiny strip of Rich Razzleberry card stock on top of the larger butterfly.

Today I get to stamp with 30 of my local SCS buddies at a shoebox swap in Laurel, MD (thank you, Kathy!). The theme of the swap is fall and winter holidays, and this is the card I designed for everybody to make. Most of the cards will be clean & simple, so that there is time to chat and eat as well. The potluck breakfasts and lunches at these shoebox swaps are just fabulous!

I pulled out my old Southwest corner punch to create a silver corded frame around the cardinal image. The ‘Merry Christmas’ label was adhered to the image panel with regular glue, and adhered to the card with a dimensional. The background paper on this card is that wonderful flocked specialty designer paper from the holiday mini catalog — it’s so soft and fuzzy.

My little sister and her husband are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary next week. Both of their first names start with the letter G and we fondly call the couple G². Because of this nickname, I stamped the letter G twice (first with Basic Gray ink, next as a “shadow” with Sage Shadow ink) and punched out the image with a circle punch.

The layout I used was today’s sketch challenge on SCS (SC247). It’s so much easier for me to have a starting point, especially when I urgently need to make a card and I’m not feeling very inspired.
