Blintz Base Card

August 10th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Blintz Base Card
I was inspired by a card I saw on my friend Pat’s new blog to try this origami fold. You can find the tutorial in the TLC179 – Blintz Base thread on splitcoaststampers.com.

The butterfly stamp set is new in the Fall-Winter 2008 Idea Book & Catalog. It’s one of the freebies Stampin’ Up! gave to each attendee at the convention earlier this month. I stamped off the solid stamp, inked with Pumpkin Pie, before stamping it on Whisper White card stock. Then I stamped the flowery butterfly with Real Red ink using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. The most challenging part was cutting out the swirly sentiment.

Featured Stamper: Kim Teasdale

Featured Stamper: Kim Teasdale
It’s always nice to discover a new gallery on SCS with the Featured Stamper Challenge. This week we’re CASEing cards made by blondie090277, and I chose a card from this wonderful Basic Silhouettes Gift Ensemble.

The branch image from the new Eastern Blooms set reminds me of the Garden Silhouettes stamp, and we learned a neat trick at convention last week for inking it up with several colors. First I inked up the entire image with my Cameo Coral ink pad, and then I used a blender pen to remove the color from the stems. I colored the stems with a Chocolate Chip marker and also added a little color to the hearts of the flowers, right on top of the Cameo Coral ink.

This stamp set will be on sale (15% off), along with several others, starting Monday at 2:00 PM EDT. That is when the Fall-Winter 2008 Idea Book &Catalog goes into effect. Check my Stampin’ Up! website for more info on Monday afternoon.

Featured Stamper: Michelle (aka shellapoo)

August 9th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I wasn’t home last Sunday when shellapoo was chosen to be the Featured Stamper on SCS, but I had read her story and visited her gallery a while ago, and I really wanted to participate in this challenge and send her a card. When I read that she loves orange (me, too!), I just had to pick this Orange-y Wildflowers card to CASE.

Instead of using patterned paper, I first stamped the Twill background in Tangerine Tango ink on the Groovy Guava card and then added the grass in Whisper White ink. The flowers were inked up with a VersaMarker and stamped on Tangerine Tango card stock, then embossed with black powder. I first did one flower, then the other, since they are part of the same Inspired by Nature image.

The sentiment from the Fresh Cuts set was stamped in Basic Black Craft ink and embossed with clear powder. The fancy corners were made using the new Scallop Edge Punch. I just held the punch upside down and inserted my card stock at a 45 degree angle behind one of the scallops and punched.

White Magic Card

August 7th, 2008 · 5 Comments

How could I not participate in Kristina Werner’s 18th color inspiration challenge after meeting her at the Stampin’ Up! convention last week! She is just as sweet in real life as in her videos! I knew right away I wanted to use my new Inspired by Nature stamp set and try the White Magic technique with it in the challenge colors.

First I stamped the image in Whisper White Craft ink on Basic Black card stock. Then I used the Pure Color Pencils to add color to the flowers. I was in a bit of a hurry, as you can probably tell. Had to meet that deadline!

Four-Holiday View-Master Card

August 1st, 2008 · 6 Comments

Four-Holiday View-Master Card
When I send a hand-stamped card to my parents, they tend to keep it displayed for a very long time. That’s where I got this idea to make a View-Master card that you send for one holiday (say, Thanksgiving), but when Christmas comes around and the card is still sitting on top of the fireplace mantel, your recipient just turns the wheel and the next holiday image (say, a Christmas tree) appears.

I used four stamps from the Holiday Blitz set (pumpkin, tree, clover, and bunny) to cover four holidays with this card. The sentiment is from the Happy Everything set, and I omitted the letter S from “holidays” when I inked up the stamp with several markers. The colors match the various holiday images on the View-Master reel.

Can you believe I made 12 of these cards for a Wow Card Swap at Stampin’ Up!’s convention?
