Easel Card

Easel Card

When Stampin’ Up! announced their new color collections, I felt like making a card using some of the returning, previously retired In Colors. I put together Wild Wasabi and Tangerine Tango, and added the retiring Summer Sun on this birthday card with a fun fold. To make this card, I just followed the instructions in the Easel Card tutorial on SCS.

For the top part of the card, I used a sketch I found on the clean & simple stamping blog. The white grosgrain ribbon was colored with a Copic marker to match the Summer Sun card stock.

I love the look of the out of the box with Nestabilities technique, so I gave it a try with this Labels Seven die. Although I’m pretty sure I did something wrong, I still like the result. Maybe because I really enjoy this color combination, suggested by Julee as one of the Verve Beach Party Release Week challenges last week.

The layout I used is last week’s sketch challenge from SCS (SC277). Roxie does an amazing job every week in keeping us fully inspired with wonderful starting points for our cards!

Turquoise and Lemon

Turquoise and Lemon

Sometimes a color challenge is indeed a real challenge, and this color combination almost got me stumped. Lee picked these colors for Gina K.’s April Release color challenge on StampTV (GKAPR10LM). I ended up combining the colors with Fall-to Layout 87 from the clean & simple stamping blog.

Since my order of Pure Luxury Turquoise Sea card stock hasn’t arrived yet, I used retired turquoise DSP from Stampin’ Up! called Bali Breeze. The swirly motif looks great with the butterfly, which was cut with the Beautiful Wings embosslit die. I stamped the sentiment from Sung from the Heart with black ink in the right bottom corner, using my trusted Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. No crooked sentiments ever!

Hope Is Faith

Hope Is Faith
Last night I stayed up way too late making cards and trying to keep up with Gina K.’s release party on StampTV at the same time. I made this card for Theresa’s sketch challenge (GKAPR10TM), using the sentiment from Hope Is Faith.

This layout was perfect for trying out my new Nesties. I cut a large curved rectangle out of Kioshi paper, which matches the Lovely Lavender card stock beautifully! The sentiment stamp was inked up with markers, cut out with a smaller matching die, and sponged around with Soft Sky ink. I thought the polka-dot butterfly looked nice with the polka-dot embossed background.

Big Wish

Being a big fan of Stampin’ Up!’s Nouveau Chic DSP, I just had to participate in this week’s color combination challenge on SCS (CC267). Apricot Appeal and Sage Shadow are two colors that are retiring soon, and I am sad to see them go.

The birthday cake and sentiment are images from Verve’s Big Wish stamp set. I stamped matching flowers from the Feel the Sun stamp set behind the popped-up cake. The sketch I used is one of this week’s Beach Party Release Week Challenges by Verve Stamps.
