Shadow Tiles

Shadow Tiles
Here’s a nice monochromatic and very mailable card (which is going to be on its way to Belgium later today) using the Shadow Tiles technique from the December 2013/January 2014 edition of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.

I stamped the image and sentiment first, then scored the 5-1/4″ x 4″ vanilla card stock at every inch both vertically and horizontally using the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate. Then came the more time-consuming part: lining up two Post-it® notes against the bottom edges of each square and sponging Crumb Cake ink to cover the bottom corner. When the entire card is done, the effect is quite wonderful.

Cabbage Roses

The color challenge on SCS this week (CC461) really appealed to me. Combined with this week’s Mojo Monday sketch, it inspired this quick birthday card for my aunt. I love the contrast between the elegant pearl-embellished die-cuts and the distressed background and edges.

Mojo Monday 327

Mojo Monday 327
I adore this cute robot! It’s the perfect image for a little boy’s birthday card, don’t you agree? I colored him with Warm Gray Copic markers. The sketch I used for inspiration is the Mojo Monday 327 sketch. Instead of die-cut hearts, I sprinkled the card with punched out gear images — some of them embellished with tiny metal gear sequins.

Waltzingmouse Fanatic

Waltzingmouse Fanatic
I’m a big fan of Waltzingmouse Stamps, and I have been meaning to join the Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge ever since they got started. Their first challenge in this new year is a color challenge, which I combined with this week’s sketch challenge on SCS (SC469).

Even though WMS stamps are clear, I still like using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to try and place all images on the paper just right. The circle image on the sentiment panel was stamped on a scalloped circle die-cut. Afterwards I used a brown marker to color the tips of the scallops that were still showing the tan card stock, and I also went around the edge of the die-cut for a cleaner finish.
