Misting with Markers

Misting with Markers

Whenever I design a card for a shoebox swap (as this one for today’s get-together in Fort Meade, MD) I try to come up with something quick and easy, yet appealing. I decided to use the misting with markers technique with this floral image from Gina K.’s Stenciled Spring set. Love the effect, especially when you stamp on watercolor paper.

This time (I think) I came up with the layout myself — at least I wasn’t closely following somebody else’s sketch. I’m sure I must have seen it somewhere along the line. I embellished the Labels Ten die-cut by piercing a hole at both ends and inserting a knotted piece of black hemp twine, that was then taped to the back.

Say Cheese

Say Cheese

My older sister has inherited the photographing gene from our dad and I thought this TAC image would make for a great birthday card for her. When I saw Jen del Muro’s April Sketch For You To Try I knew I was going to use the filmstrip frames die-cuts in my layout. Then I found some old-fashioned (lick ’em) black photo corners in my stash, and they were perfect for framing the focal point.

Featured Stamper: Becky Spinks

I was happy to find inspiration for an Easter card in Featured Stamper bspinks‘s SCS gallery today. Her Moving on to Easter card has a nice clean and simple design, just the way I like it!

I stamped the image and sentiment from Verve’s Easter Joy set with black ink and colored them with Copic markers. The ribbons were fastened with my favorite ribbon adhesive: Scor-Tape.

Color Me Creative Birthday

Color Me Creative Birthday

Suzanne J Dean is celebrating the first birthday of her Color Me Creative Classroom this month, and this is a card I created for her birthday celebration sketch challenge. After taking a Copics class in Suzanne’s lovely home last year, I immediately signed up for several of her on-line classes. She also has lots of free video tutorials on her YouTube channel. Check it out!

I thought it would only be appropriate to create a birthday card for this challenge. I stamped the birthday cake and balloons with black Memento ink on white card stock and colored the images with the Copic markers listed below.

Early/Late Father’s Day Card

Early/Late Father's Day Card

I’m afraid it’s too late to send a Father’s Day card to my dad in Belgium (we celebrate on March 19th in Antwerp), but way too early to send one to my American father-in-law. At least I have another card ready to be used!

I turned Jen del Muro’s March Sketch For You to Try on its side and pulled colors from BasicGrey’s Marjolaine collection. The argyle pattern is what made me decide to create a masculine card. The Lovely Labels 3 image was a great match. I stamped it with Not Quite Navy ink on white card stock and colored it in with a light tan marker. The Tech Talk sentiment was stamped directly onto green patterned paper and cut out with a circle Nestabilities die.

Stamps: Lovely Labels 3, Tech Talk (Gina K. Designs)
Paper: Not Quite Navy (SU!); Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs); Marjolaine (BasicGrey)
