For Rachel

Here’s a 7″ tall birthday card I made today, using the first Viva la Verve sketch of this month. I paper-pieced the birthday cake from Verve’s Birthday Bash stamp set with striped Bella Birds designer paper and colored the candles with Copic markers. It was the perfect image for trying out my new Liquid Pearls, too.

The sentiments were stamped with Chocolate Chip ink on two embossed oval die-cuts and placed on top of the classy label die-cuts. I tied two buttons to the So Saffron ribbon with embroidery floss.

I’ve been meaning to make a card for this week’s Featured Stamper, Understandblue, and luckily I managed to do so before the next FS is announced. Back in January I favorited Lydia’s Leadership Swap card, so that’s the one I CASEd. I used a silhouette image from the long-retired Vintage Postcard stamp set and embellished the oval focal point with sparkly brads. Colors were changed (sorry, Lydia, no blue), but the layout remains the same.

Featured Stamper: Korin Sutherland

I finally stepped back into my stamp room today (first time after vacationing in Belgium) to make a birthday card for my dear husband. I spotted a very nice masculine birthday card in Featured Stamper sweetnsassystamps‘s gallery that I wanted to CASE. I noticed too late that the original card was made for a sketch challenge, but at least I changed the shape of the card from a square to a rectangle. Other than using different papers and a different birthday sentiment, I kept everything else the same. Why mess with perfection?

49 + 1 Golden Heart

49 + 1 Golden Heart

To celebrate my parents’ golden wedding anniversary, I designed a technically incorrect (?) card that sports 49 tiny hearts. Ten of these little hearts were left un-embossed and raised with dimensionals create the 50th, golden, heart. I hope my dad (a retired school teacher) appreciates the thought that went into the card, LOL.

Looking forward to a nice get-together and fun anniversary party today!

WMS Birthday Party Waltz

WMS Birthday Party Waltz

My contribution to this month’s WMS Friends Blog Waltz (with a birthday party theme) is this elegant, yet very simple birthday card I made for my dear mother-in-law. She loves butterflies, so I chose this pretty background paper from the Ambrosia collection by BasicGrey.

I embossed the Vintage Circles, Small image with black powder and added the sentiment, embossed with vanilla powder, from the Bountiful Baskets Additions set. The circle fit perfectly inside the Spellbinders die-cut, which I embellished with tiny self-adhesive pearls and adhered to the card with dimensionals.
