Fall Leaves

Fall Leaves
I just returned from another fun shoebox swap in Laurel, MD. The card I designed this time fit yesterday’s Free for All challenge on splitcoaststampers.com: Fall Leaves. I colored my Autumn Splendor leaves by pressing circles of ink onto the stamped images with a sponge dauber. The background uses the direct-to-paper technique on top of the woodgrain embossing (or rather, debossing) with Crumb Cake and Creamy Caramel ink. Really makes it look like wood!

August Sketch for You to Try
I was sorry to miss Verve’s 5th Anniversary celebration and challenges, but I had hoped to at least create a card for this month’s SFYTT (sponsored by Verve Stamps) and I barely made it. My new Verve stamps arrived yesterday, so I used a sentiment from the brand-new Brighter Days set, stamped on kraft card stock, as the focal point of my card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Joyful Birthday!

Happy Joyful Birthday!
I’ve been wanting to use the Postage Stamps Nestabilities die with the large collage image from the Postage Due stamp set for a long time, and this week’s SCS sketch (SC399) was just perfect. It couldn’t have been more timely, because my husband’s birthday was coming up and I hadn’t made his (bicycle) birthday card yet!

I stamped the image with VersaMark ink while the Very Vanilla card stock was still inside the die, then heat embossed with Early Espresso EP. Afterwards I placed the paper back inside the die and sponged Crumb Cake and More Mustard ink over the entire surface. I also spritzed on some red and blue ink to tie in with the Fan Fair DSP background. The birthday sentiment was embossed on a Lots of Tags die cut that was embellished with linen thread.
