It’s been years since I’ve attended a baby shower, but I didn’t want to miss Rachel’s party today. She is married to my husband’s nephew and is expecting her first baby (90% sure it’s a boy) on the 26th. Hopefully the baby won’t be born late and end up with a February 29th birthday!

I used a mirror image of Jennie Harper’s January Release Sketch (because that worked better with the ABC blocks image) as the starting point for my card. The card base was embossed with the Stripes embossing folder.

I’m so excited to attend another shoebox swap with my SCS stamping buddies in Laurel, MD today! This is the card I designed for the occasion, using some of my new Stampin’ Up! goodies. It’s a Tent Topper card (I just love making these) with a Chocolate Chip base and a Cherry Cobbler Top Note topper that is attached with dimensionals. The base is covered with a Snow Burst-textured vanilla panel.

If you are wondering how the mini jingle bell was fastened to Dasher’s neck, here’s what I did: I pierced two little holes on either side of his neck, threaded a piece of bakers twine through the little hole on the mini jingle bell and used a needle threader to pull both ends to the back of the card stock where they were taped down.

Thanks for stopping by!

StampTV’s Swipe On Swipe Off challenge sounded like it would make a pretty sunset background for a sail ship. Our nephew’s birthday is coming up and I think he’d enjoy this card, after sailing around the Outer Banks this summer.

I used six different Memento Dew Drop inkpads and just swiped them across the white card stock. Then I stamped the image and ran the card stock through my Big Shot with the largest Classic Diamonds die. The sails were colored with a clear glitter pen. If you click to enlarge, you may be able to see that the Smoky Slate background was lightly “impressed” with the Sea Scape template.

Suzanne J Dean is celebrating the first birthday of her Color Me Creative Classroom this month, and this is a card I created for her birthday celebration sketch challenge. After taking a Copics class in Suzanne’s lovely home last year, I immediately signed up for several of her on-line classes. She also has lots of free video tutorials on her YouTube channel. Check it out!

I thought it would only be appropriate to create a birthday card for this challenge. I stamped the birthday cake and balloons with black Memento ink on white card stock and colored the images with the Copic markers listed below.

My Hopewell neighbor Heather Pulvirenti started a Totally Hues color challenge on her blog today. Even though I don’t own any PTI card stock, I wanted to jump right in and tried to find colors similar to: Harvest Gold, Hawaiian Shores, Hibiscus Burst, and Simply Chartreuse.

These colors might be considered a little too bright for a baby card, but that’s what was on my to-do list today and I thought, “Why not?” And then I realized that the image I wanted to use was probably too Christmassy, but I couldn’t help myself. It’s so cute! Don’t you agree?

After a quick refresher visit to the Out of the Box with Nestabilities tutorial on SCS, I stamped the irisstamp with black ink on white card stock. After cutting it out with the aforementioned technique, I colored it with Copic markers and did some faux stitching along the edge. Card layout is this week’s sketch challenge on SCS (SC318).

When I looked through my collection of stamps, I thought this was the perfect image for a little girl’s birthday card. Sketch and color combination were quickly decided upon, thanks to the SC306 and CC296 challenges on SCS.

I stamped the fish princess with black Memento ink and colored her with turquoise Copic markers. The white circle in the background was sponged with Tempting Turquoise ink, while the card stock was still inside the circle die. The patterned paper was one of the designs in the Quite a Catch card kit (which is no longer available).

I wanted to make a “Stampin’ Up! only” birthday card for a demonstrator friend of mine and found a great card to CASE in Featured Stamper jazzytobi‘s SCS gallery. The cocktail glass images reminded me of the Cheers to You set, so that’s what I used on my card.

I stamped the glass and sentiment with Basic Gray ink on an oval die cut and colored the image with watercolor crayons. Beate’s paper piercing trick came in handy again for adding the piercing to the oval mat. After adhering all of the layers to the card, I filled in the glass with Crystal Effects for that glassy look.

Thanks for stopping by!

I finished my last card for the Verve Release Week challenges with sketch number 5. As soon as I saw the layout, I knew I wanted to use the notebook paper image from the Blue Skies set — it was the perfect size. I added a couple of suns from the Let It Shine stamp set and embossed the background with Tim Holtz’s Rays embossing folder. Because I used white core textured card stock, I was able to highlight the dry embossed rays with a sanding block.
