Sometimes the weather interferes with my card making; today it was a tornado warning that temporarily halted my CASEing of today’s Featured Stamper’s Happy Goldfish card (I was sitting in the basement for a while, listening to the radio). Perhaps that’s why I ended up making more changes in my design than I was planning to.

I decided to use light aqua card stock instead of white for the base of my card, but I kept the colors similar to ravengirl’s original. Her scalloped trim embellishment inspired me to use the big scallop border punch along the bottom edge of the card. I layered my ribbon and added my sentiment on a round tag, since there was no room for it on the image panel.

Gina K.’s Happy Fish Card- featuring Copic Markers StampTV episode also inspired me, so I decided to add this card to her Design Team Blog Hop as well.

Thanks to my sweet friend Jennifer I had exactly the right stamps for today’s card. My husband enjoyed riding his bike to work today (as did many others on this national Bike to Work Day) and I wanted to surprise him with a “bicycle card” when he returned. I hope he likes it!

The sketch I used is this week’s Mojo Monday layout (MOJO139), and I used colors and papers from the Sale-A-Bration 2010 DSP pad. The wavy pattern I used behind my rub-on sentiment reminded me of the Pumpkin Pie rick rack in the Pigtails package. I wanted to use the large bicycle image in the Pedaling Past set, but facing the other way, so I stamped the image on a piece of window sheet and flipped it over.

Thanks for stopping by!

If I were a scrapbooker, I would probably create scrapbooks of my travels. This new stamp set and paper from Stampin’ Up! would have been perfect for them. Since I only make cards (but loved the images so much that I bought the set anyway), I decided to make a “happy journey” card with my newest purchase.

This 4-1/4″ square card features several of the images in the set in the colors of the matching DSP: Night of Navy, Garden Green, and Pumpkin Pie. I did some 3D stamping on the word “travel” to make it stand out against the Garden Green card stock.

For the inside of the card, I cut two slits in the Kraft card stock (before adhering it to the card) to create the base for the popped-up suitcases. I just used my scissors, but if you want to be more precise you could use a paper cutter or a hobby blade (as shown in the Pop-Up Card tutorial on SCS).

I stamped the images in the background with VersaMark and used a stamp positioner to create the sentiment with Night of Navy ink.

Thanks for stopping by!

My stamping buddy and fellow Great Swaps Girl Lori was chosen as Featured Stamper #170 on Sunday. I found this cute blue and orange (my favorite color) card in her gallery: Go for It.

My version is also a square, blue and orange card – with a few modifications. I used a different fish image and added my sentiment with a tag. The twill tape was colored with a Copic marker to match the fish. All stamped images were clear embossed, and the little golden crown was stamped twice, cut out and raised with a tiny dimensional for a little bit of a 3-D effect.

When you get to stamp with friends all day, those are always good times! I’m participating in a shoebox swap with fellow SplitcoastStampers today and this is the card I designed for them to make. It is loosely based on Fall-to Layout 83 from the clean & simple stamping blog.

After a quick glance at my Color Coach, I decided to use some of its color combo suggestions for a Gable Green card base. I substituted Melon Mambo for the suggested Pixie Pink. It’s probably hard to see the Fine Lace background (stamped with Gable Green ink), but it adds just that little something to the card. The die-cut and stamped butterflies were enhanced with pink and clear glitter pens.

I stamped the Inspiration Mosaic background with black VersaFine ink on Red Hot (looks much better IRL, but tough to photograph) card stock and clear embossed it. With the help of a Post-It® note, I masked off some of the sections and filled others with two images from the Picture It! set. The flowers were colored in with a white Sharpie. The goose from the new Spring Mix StampTV kit was stamped on white card stock and colored with Copic markers. The sentiment was gold embossed, to match the title on the red hardcover.
